We went to stay with Vic's aunt and uncle for a few days and saw some really interesting places not far away from their house. They live in West Yorkshire-UK

As usual we all forgot to take our cameras the first day so I can't show anyone where we went. One of the places was called Red Brick House which had connections with the Bronte sisters and is a lovely old house with a museum inside.

The second was Oakwell Hall that dates back to Tudor times and some of the gardens have just been remade as they would have been in those early days.

The next day we went to Saltaire. This is a very interesting place as it is a self contained small town built by the mill owner to house his workforce. The buildings are still all beautiful and still used today though the mill isn't used as a mill these days. It has many uses as offices and small industries have taken over but a huge part of it is art galleries with mainly the work of David Hockney. He was an local artist with connections to the town where we now live and some of the paintings showed many of the places we know. He also lived in America for some of his life and many of his paintings reflect that time as well.

The next day we went to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park which is a beautiful place with a lot of Henry Moore,s work displayed in amongst the beautiful trees and beside the lake. Three new art galleries have recently opened and a visitors centre as well. The art in the galleries was by Turnbull but this is to be changed at regular intervals to show other artists.
