Vic's 50th Birthday

Vic wanted to go to a couple of his favourite places for his birthday.

One was the steam railway at Pickering and we went the whole length of the track which has some wonderful scenery and takes about an hour at a nice leisurely pace. Also along the way is the station used in the Harry Potter films and in the Heartbeat programme on UK television.

The other place was Whitby of which we are both fond and where I said I would like to live until Vic reminded me about the wind and cold up there and persuaded me to choose here in Bridlington.

We had never climbed the 199 steps to the abbey ruins and the church on the cliff top so we did this time and it was well worth the effort. The clouds were gathering and then the rain got heavier and heavier reminding us why we didn't choose Whitby as a place to live.
