Burton Agnes Hall and Gardens

This is a lovely place just a short bus ride from our house. Parts of the hall date back to Tudor times and even though you can look around most of the hall, a real family live there. We have been sometimes at meal times and the dining room is closed off while the family eat. It is a very grand dining room with a huge table and I would love to see them eating with all the beautiful plates and cutlery.

The gardens are spectacular with a water lily pond and a recently added nature walk. The son bought trees with the money he got for his 21st birthday and there are some very rare varieties planted. Also some sculptures made from the trees that have had to be cleared because they had become unsafe.

These pictures are ones from the walled garden which is set out in 'rooms' all filled with different colours and the scent of a lot of them is amazing.
