How to make a Card Holder

This would make a nice present if you don't know what to buy for someone or be a good way to sell some cards for a charity sale.

Supplies needed

85cms ribbon-it works best with ribbon less than 2cms wide

3 sheets of thin card A4 size

Medium weight card

Card sheet 1--30cms x 14.5cms

Matching card sheet 2--18cms x 14.5cms

Decorations of your choice and glue or double sided tape

Cut the A4 sheets in half  to make 6 sheets of 14.5x21cms

Fold these in half to make the pockets for the cards.

Cut a strip as shown in the picture from each side of the pockets

fold over the edges and stick together to make a pocket as in the picture

When you have made all of the pockets. Make a template of part of a circle. I drew around a lid then decided how much of it I wanted as a cut out on the pockets. When you are happy with the template measure the centre point on the straight edge of the template and also measure the centre of the top the pockets. Line them up and cut out the shape on the pockets--I did all of them together but if you aren't confident doing that then do each one separately.

From this point you will notice I have only 5 pockets as I have split coffee on  one of them. A good tip is never to have coffee on the craft table when you are cutting a thick layer of card lol.

Now you can fasten the pockets together. Leave the two ends free have the seams facing backwards. I used double sided tape but glue could be ok. They must be fastened securely

Put cards into the pockets to test if it is strong enough

Take card piece 1 and on the wrong side measure 17.5cms and make a mark. Then measure 3cms from the last mark. Do the same on the other edge. Then score between the marks as in the picture.

Now work on piece of card 2. Measure 3cms from the end then another 3cms from that point. Do this on both sides then score between the points. Do not draw a line as it will show when the folder is open.

Fold up the end and decorate the other end if you like-I used a corner punch on this one.

Stick the folded part to card piece 1 as shown on the photo

Fold it all up to test it -if you are happy with the straighten it out again if not try to make it right.

Now add the ribbon . Stick it from the top back fold. Down the back and about 5cms up the front. Test the position of the ribbon before you stick it on as you will need to have enough left at both ends to tie a bow where you would like it to be.

Now to add the pockets to the folder.

Use strong tape or glue stick the one with the seam to the back inside of the folder. Take time to position it just above the bottom back fold and in the centre of the back

Decorate the front of the pocket if you wish or leave it plain for a personal greeting

That is the card holder finished apart from adding anything else that you think would look nice. I added a couple of peel offs and made a little gift card from some of the card and ribbon that was left over
