Ideas for glitter

Cards made with the methods here

I think I am 'glitterphobic' as I try to avoid using it even though I love to see it on cards from other people. My daughter, Linda, is really good with it and we were chatting on the phone and discussing 'glittering'. She has some excellent ideas and I have adapted a couple for myself. So far using these ideas I have avoided ending up looking like a member of a 70s Rock Band and without the whole house being full of glitter. I hope this may help some of you.

I have lots of labels with sticky on one side so I used some of them and cut out shapes

Sprinkle some glitter into a plastic container you can add any excess unwanted glitter at any time and get a nice mixture to use in the future if you like

Peel off the backing of the label and dip the tacky side in the glitter. Lift out and give it a good shake into the box so that the glitter is saved.

Use on cards as you wish. Make a batch of them and save to use in the future.

Next I tried sticky back plastic which means that the shapes look different on different coloured card as the colour shows through a little. The technique is just the same as with the labels.

If you want just one colour then shake the glitter in the box to one end and shake out the different colour at the other end-you don't need a lot of glitter to do the shapes this way and it doesn't get messed up with glue.

Next I glittered the sticky side of some peel offs. The sturdy ones can be stuck onto cards with glue but the fan and any thin peel-offs need a different method. I glittered those then stuck them on to the sticky side of the sticky backed plastic or you could use a label. Cut out the shape of your peel off then dip in a different colour of glitter to show through the other colour.

To add a glitter edge to your cards, just put a strip of double-sided tape to the edge and then pour glitter onto the tape over the box

I hope you will be able to make lots of nice cards and save a lot of glitter in the process
