Grid Guide
You will need a tube
Open a new transparent canvas 500x500
Chose a gradient that will match your tube-you need a linear gradient
that hasn't any repeats or angles on it.
Flood fill your canvas with the gradient.
Click on view-grid. This will place a grid on everything that is on
the desk top. Don't worry cause the grid will go when we have
finished with it.
In your foreground box of the material palatte have black or white
depending on your tube and gradient. If you used my tube then black
looks better than white.
Click on eraser tool and have the square size 10 setting. Change the
step to 200.
On your canvas count in three squares from the right top edge of the
grid and 3 squares down. Click once in this square with the eraser
tool- hold done the shift key and click once in the third square in
and up at the right bottom of the canvas. You will now have a
straight line of small squares.
Make another line to the left of the last one but two more squares
to the left and in the alternate square to the last row as you can
see in the finished tag.
Add a new layer and flood fill with black/white.
Layers arrange-send to the bottom.
View-grid-the grids will now go away.
Click on the gradient layer-effects-artistic effects-posterize-size
10
Click on the tube and file-export-custom brush-step on one and
variance unchecked. Name the brush anything you like. I called mine
red hat.
With the white/black in the foreground box of the material palette
click on the brush tool and select the brush you have just added
size 500. Click once on to your canvas over to the top right. If the
brush doesn't work it may be because your tube was too big so you
need to reduce the brush size a little until it does work.
Now click again on your tube and resize 80%
Copy and paste this onto the canvas as a new layer-arrange where you
think it looks best.
Effects-3d-drop shadow-default setting.
Layers -merge visible.
Resize your tag to the size you want it to be when finished.
Have the black/white in the background box of the material palette
and the foreground on null.
Add a new layer to your canvas and use 2 different types of font and
add your text as I have done. Convert the selections to a new layer
with each layer of text and reduce the opacity to 65% for a more
subtle effect.
You can add any frame or border you wish. I added the film border but
selected the small squares and filled them with my gradient then I
added an inner bevel.
That's the tutorial finished. I hope that you enjoyed doing it.
